TecScan Electronics Limited was established in 1986 by it's present directors, Mac and Joanne Lear.

The aim of the company was to manufacture and supply the very first colour video web inspection systems to the print industry. Until that time print inspection was only done by eye, and the presses of the day had to run very slow for the printer to view the substrate and print registration. With the aid of a web viewer they were able to see the print defects at very high press speeds without the need of slowing the press and creating more printed waste.

In 1986 TecScan employed 4 people and no sales staff. TecScan now boasts 22 full time employees at its headquarters in Wales, U.K. and over 30 sales agencies Worldwide.

From humble beginnings to World market leaders, TecScan has always enjoyed the fact that innovation is the key to success. No other company within the web viewing field can boast the innovative skills that TecScan has. All sales, production, administration, service, research and development is controlled from its modern facility just 20 miles North of the Welsh capital, Cardiff.

Over the years TecScan has received numerous industry accolades such as the SMART business award for innovation, UK small business award, Parcel Force regional business award, Parcel force UK business excellence runners up, Flexo Tech Worldwide innovation in environmental achievement award and very recently ISO 9001 certification. The fact that the company strives for excellence is testimony of its commitment to customer satisfaction.
